Greetings, my wife of 13 years was born in South Lake Tahoe on 1/23/80. She was adopted by a very loving woman. She is curious about the process of finding her biological parents. Can you point me in any direction? Thank you in advance.

      Anthony,
Thank you so much for reaching out! I am campaigning for the office of El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk (the incumbent is retiring after many years of faithful service) and therefore am not your current elected Recorder-Clerk, but am happy to help!

In regarding to your question, the Recorder-Clerk’s office should have a record of your wife’s birth certificate. To get a copy and start with your search to find her biological parents, our wife may want to contact either the South Lake Tahoe branch or Placerville branch of the El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk’s office to start by looking for a copy of her birth certificate that may have more information on her parents’ identities and could help point you in the right direction. Their information is below.

      Recorder Clerk – Placerville …………………………………………………………………………… 621-5490
      360 Fair Lane, Placerville 95667
      Fax ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. 621-2147
      William “Bill” Schultz, Recorder-Clerk …………………………………………………………………… 621-5494
Jane Kohlstedt, Assistant Recorder ………………………………………………………………………. 621-5493
      Recorder Clerk – South Lake Tahoe………………………………………………………………………… 573-3409
3368 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Suite 108, South Lake Tahoe 96150
      Fax ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. 544-6463

Best of luck to you and your wife in your search! Thanks again for reaching out for assistance!
      Sincerely,

      Janelle Horne
